Quarterly Release Transitional Support Coverage
Effective: September 21, 2023
Updated: May 12, 2025 (language updated for clarity with no substantive changes)
Current Policy
The previous Quarterly Release Transitional Support Coverage (see below for original wording) has been replaced by the Liferay Service Life Policy. This is the updated version of the Quarterly Release Transitional Support Coverage policy.
In order to ensure a smooth transition to Liferay DXP Quarterly Releases, Emergency Updates (hotfixes) are available for Liferay DXP 7.4 Update 1 to DXP 7.4 Update 92 through and until August 31, 2025.
After August 31, 2025, Emergency Updates are available only for Liferay DXP 7.4 Update 92 and not any other release of Liferay DXP 7.4. Emergency Updates are not available for all other releases of Liferay DXP 7.4, however, these will otherwise remain in the Premium Support Phase.
Previous Policy
The previous Quarterly Release Transitional Support Coverage has been kept below for reference.
Liferay DXP 2023.Q3 is the first Quarterly Release where Liferay adopted a quarterly release cadence and a 365-day hotfix policy. Customers can receive product defect resolution in the form of Emergency Updates (also known as hotfixes) for any Quarterly Release issues within 365 days. This also means that product guidance and defect resolution for Updates will not be offered.
The first quarterly release was made available on October 20, 2023. Following this date, customers are asked to adjust their maintenance schedules by January 2024. Between September 21, 2023 and January 31, 2024 support will be offered for Quarterly Releases and Updates released prior to October 20, 2023. After January 31, 2024, Liferay will offer product guidance and defect resolution for Quarterly Releases only.
In order to ensure a smooth transition, between September 21, 2023 and January 31, 2024 Emergency Updates will be made available on demand for Updates released prior to October 20, 2023 and within 180 days, as determined by the date the incident was reported to Liferay.
* for Updates issued within 180 days or less
