Liferay Digital Experience Platform (DXP) has a series of social networking features. Some features were part of DXP 7.0 while others were part of the Social Networking app on Liferay Marketplace. The social networking features are deprecated. The following features were removed from DXP 7.1 and will not be released as a Marketplace app:

• Directory
• Friend Requests
• Group Statistics
• Social Activity
• User Statistics

These features will not be released on Marketplace. Issues reported concerning these features will not be resolved for DXP 7.1.

A new version of Liferay Social Networking, compatible with DXP 7.1 will not be released on Marketplace. The Liferay Social Networking app is a lab app. Liferay Support does not offer assistance, guidance or product resolutions for Lab Applications.

Resolution

If you still require the social networking features they can be obtained from Liferay’s public repository. In order to download the modules from Liferay’s public repository, please follow the instructions in Installing Removed Modules From Liferay's Public Repository. The module versions as of DXP 7.1 GA1 are listed and linked below.
