2026.02.03 Product Experience Updates: Cookie Banner and In-App Guidance
As part of our ongoing commitment to improving the administrative experience, Liferay is introducing a Product Experience Management capability. This helps us deliver better in-app guidance for administrators and learn (based on your preferences) which admin features are most useful so we can prioritize improvements that matter.
We are progressively rolling out this capability across additional environments after validating it for stability and performance. As rollout expands, more administrators will encounter the initial banner to set preferences.
Who this is for
This experience is intended for Liferay customer administrators, including users with roles such as:
Portal administrators
Site administrators
Other admin-level roles who access administrative areas (e.g., Control Panel / Product Menu)
End users are not targeted
Your end users and site visitors are not the audience for this capability. It is designed for admin experiences only. This capability is intended to help administrators adopt features, discover relevant resources, and provide feedback.
What you will notice
As your environment upgrades, admin users may see:
A cookie banner used to capture privacy choices for optional analytics and guidance
Over time, in-app tips, guides, or announcements designed to help administrators complete tasks more efficiently

What this capability is used for
This capability supports three core outcomes for administrators:
In-app guidance Step-by-step walkthroughs, tips, and contextual help inside the product.
Direct feedback loops Optional prompts that let administrators share product feedback without needing a support ticket.
Data and privacy
This capability is designed to provide product-level insights about how administrative areas are used. It is not intended to identify or profile individuals, and private information such as a person’s name or email is not stored along with telemetry data..
The banner lets administrators choose whether to allow non-essential cookies used for:
Analytics that support product improvement
In-app guidance and feedback experiences
You can always review the governing details in our policies:
This capability is designed to have no impact on the stability or security of your environment. It does not change your deployment architecture or access controls and is scoped to the admin experience.
How to disable this feature for your environment
If your organization requires this capability to be disabled at the environment/project level, please open a support ticket.
What to include in the support ticket
To help us process your request quickly, include:
Request: “Disable Product Experience feature for our environment”
Environment(s): production / UAT / dev (and any identifiers you normally use)
Scope: disable for a specific environment or all environments
Acknowledgement: disabling may prevent in-app guides/announcements and reduce our ability to use admin usage insights to improve the experience
Once Support processes the request, the banner and related in-app experience will be disabled for the requested environment(s).
