Resources Importer
Overview
The Resources Importer uses sites and site templates to import the files and web content necessary to implement a fully developed theme. The Resources Importer was a Marketplace app in Liferay Portal 6.2. In Liferay Digital Experience Platform 7.0 and above the app was migrated to a bundled OSGi module.
Status
Resources Importer is deprecated as of Liferay DXP 7.1. The module should still be utilized in order to import files and web content while deploying theme. Although deprecated, the Resources Importer will be bundled with the product until a replacement is developed.
Liferay will resolve unintended behavior with Resources Importer on a case-by-case basis until the module is removed. This means that unintended behavior may or may not be resolved depending on the level of effort.
Replacement
As of Liferay DXP 7.2 there is no direct replacement for the Resources Importer. The proposed replacement for Resources Importer is the Site Initializer module (bundled as of Liferay DXP 7.1) and is still in development. As of Liferay DXP 7.2 the Site Initializer module does not fulfill all of the use-cases necessary to be an adequate replacement for Resources Importer.
Please see LPS-83770 for the most up-to-date status on the Site Initializer module.
