2024.02.21 - New Feature: A/B Testing Collections
Context/Problem
Collections provide you with a dynamic and low code way of aggregating and displaying content to end users. However, up until now it was not possible to know if the collection was really providing the most relevant assets to users in that specific context. As such, the efficacy of a collection was based mostly on the judgement of the marketers creating the collection.
What we have done
We have expanded the capabilities of AB Testing to allow the selection of a Collection Display Fragment as the Click Goal of an AB Test. This will allow you to AB Test the clickthrough rate of different Collections or Collection Providers, empowering you to optimize which content is shown to end users.
How to use this feature
- Add a Collection Display Fragment (CDF) to a page and map a Collection or Collection Provider to the CDF.
- Create an AB Test with the goal type Click.
- Select the CDF as the click goal.
- Create a Variant.
- Map a different Collection / Collection Provider to the same CDF.
- Review and run the test.
Visitors to the page will now be shown a different Collection / Collection Provider according to the Traffic Split. Once the test is concluded, you can determine which Collection / Collection Provider resulted in a higher clickthrough rate and thus provided more relevant results to end users.
Limitations
We currently do not offer the same AB Testing capabilities for the Asset Publisher, only the Collection Display Fragment.
