Tag-Inputfield stops showing proposals after non-ASCII characters

Description

When adding tags to a document or web content etc. the proposal list stops working on UTF8 character.

Steps:
1. Add the tag "Störungsverlauf" or any other tag with non-ASCII characters
2. Edit any asset where you can enter tags
3. Start typing the new tag

The proposal list stops showing results after typing "Stö". If you type "verlauf" the list will show "Störungsverlauf" and it works as expected.
Clicking on the "Choose"-Button and using the search field in the overlay window will work fine with any characters.

No Longer Reproducible on:
Tomcat 7.0 + MySQL 5. Portal 6.1.x EE GIT ID: 344c39a2f03d8c78a1061c2218cb1204a5887988.
Tomcat 7.0 + MySQL 5. Portal 6.2.x GIT ID: 1a1b10cfa672378d25f834c24baf5c469ce5ae0d.

The proposal list will show results after typing "Stö".

Hi Serena,

did you test it on a clean 6.1 CE/EE portal (without any patches)? Was it reproducible on such a system. If it wasn't, it may be an encoding issue that didn't affect you. I'm using a german layout btw.

Thanks for your reply. I tested it on a clean 6.1.x EE Portal. I just retest it on 6.1.x EE GIT ID: 344c39a2f03d8c78a1061c2218cb1204a5887988 and this time I set the language to Deutsch, I think it is working as expected, it was no longer reproducible on that version. I also test it 6.1.x EE trunk head now but I find another problem, it seems that no matter the character is non-ASCII or not, there is no tag proposals shows up even you typing the whole word. So I create a regression bug LPS-33506 to reflect this issue. Thanks for you attention.

Sorry, but I have to ask again:
Did you set the language of the portal to "Deutsch" or did you set your keyboard layout to "Deutsch" on your operating system?

I can reproduce this in 6.1 GA2 EE with all patches installed (tested with firefox and IE8), so "Fix Version 6.1.X EE" isn't correct.
I've attached another screenshot of the tag "ungültig". If I type "lti" it will appear, but if I start typing "ung" and then type "ü", the dropdown list will disappear immediately.

However, a short test with my copy of 6.2 M3 works correct so far.

A backport of the fix for 6.1 EE would be great.
